--2LBP PS Vita Beta Signup AnnouncedThe much-anticipated Beta for the LittleBigPlanet PS Vita game is taking signups! For those of you who know little about what a beta is - a beta is a preliminary version of a game that is released to a select group of people for testing. The select group of people find glitches, bugs, and note minor improvements and point these out to the game developing staff. Beta testing is very enjoyable for those who eagerly anticipate the game's official release and is beneficial to the game developing company. Everybody wins!
Here's a few things that Syroc had to say about the beta:

Note: In order to sign up for the beta, you will either need to have already purchased or be planning on purchasing a Vita.
There will be questions that arise about this, so make sure to direct your questions to the forum post that was set up to discuss this. Syroc and Steven will be periodically checking this to ensure that all questions are answered fairly and properly.
If you wish to sign up for the beta, here's the link to the littlebigplanet.com redirection site with more information and instructions on this. Make sure that you choose the appropriate continent (North America is not the same as Europe). If you are in Europe, it is critical that you follow the steps in signing up. Read them carefully before signing up!
Also, make sure to check out what Syroc had to say about this on this Playstation blog article.
And last but not least, make sure to check out the Planetarium thread discussing this topic. Good luck!
New DLC on the horizon!
New DLC is on its way! This week, Steven provided us with a teaser of what the new costumes will be:

Sack in Black is headed here! With awesome sunglasses (and yes, Steven did say that it will come with a gun), these costumes are definitely already exciting the community.
The costume pack will consist of four costumes, available independently and as a full costume pack. Details will be released on this soon.
LBP2 Game Updates Announced
Several issues were raised after update 1.12 was installed into the system, and the Little Big Planet team has been working feverishly to fix these issues. With that said, a game update is scheduled to be released next week in advance of the new costume pack being put out.
A game update is being installed on Monday, May 14th, 2012 to update the system for the new DLC set to come out. This will not fix the problems from update 1.12, as those will be addressed in the next game update. Here's what Steven had to say about this:
Steven said:
Just a quick heads up to let you know that Game Update 1.13 is due to go out next Monday on May 14th and to inform you that it is a DLC-only update.
We're aware of the issues that arose with Game Update 1.12 and are working round the clock to get these issues fixed asap, which will hopefully be in Game Update 1.14 and will be released as soon as possible.
So to summarise...
1.13 Due May 14th - DLC Patch
1.14 Coming Asap - Bug Fix and DLC Patch
In the meantime though, Game Update 1.13 contains the DLC due for release for the next month, which I will be telling you all about soon... So be sure to keep an eye out for that. ;)

He also had this to say for clarification:
Steven said:
The DLC was already complete and Game Update 1.13 has always been ready to launch to keep with our DLC schedule for the next month.
The bug fixes are still being worked on and will be included in Game Update 1.14 just as soon as they're complete and we can fully implement them, Game Update 1.14 is also due to contain some DLC that has yet to be finalised.
Just to be clear, DLC and Bug Fixing are performed by entirely different teams of people, meaning that our DLC schedule will never conflict with and therefore delay an update that includes bug fixes.
For this reason, we have not combined the two Game Updates because there's no reason to delay the release of the coming month's DLC since it will not slow down the release of Game Update 1.14 which will contain the bug fixes.

Sack it to Me: Sackboy Starts in Pole Position
This week's Sack it to Me blog features more great content from our beloved community coordinator! Steven starts out the blog with a discussion of the LBP Karting releases from last week, and covers several videos and articles associated with that.
Once again, Steven highlights the MM picks from the previous week and highlights a video of one of the levels - xslevenx's PLCC3 entry which was MM picked. The blog ends with a discussion of the Little Big Planet Central picks from last week.
Head here to check out the full text of the blog. Thanks Steven for this great update! We look forward to hearing more in the future from this excellent news source!
Steven's picked 50 MM picks!
This week marked a huge milestone for Steven: on May 4, Steven picked his 50th MM pick! For those of you who enjoy statistics, here's some numbers for you:
- Steven has picked 18.9% of all levels that MM has picked
- 28.1% of all levels picked in LBP2 have been picked by Steven
- Prior to Steven starting his position, an average of 2.138 levels were MM picked per week for LBP2.
- After Steven started his position, an exact number of 5 levels have been MM picked per week.
It should be noted that these include the very first MM picks for LBP2.
Congratulation Steven on hitting this milestone! We look forward to seeing the next 50 levels you have to pick!

--2LittleBigPodcast Episode 171The LittleBigPodcast crew is back with another podcast! This week, he talks about the new game LittleBigKarting and the interview around it, some new level picks, May the 4th and some new art! The show used to show off a lot of art before, but it has apparently slowly run away. Make sure to check the movie out!
--2Media Molecule Podcast 22Media Molecule has given us another podcast to listen and admire! The podcast is named May the 4th, which is the international Star Wars day, and also the date the podcast was published. After some speaking difficulties in the beginning of the podcast, the podcast continues with some Jedi-speaking, some playing on the Otamatone, some talking about punishment from mums, interviewing with the new podcast member Tom (no. 2) and a lot of more! The podcast also gives you the latest LBP news from Steven! Make sure to check out the podcast at Media Molecule's website
--2Pocket Moon Podcast Episode 17Taffey and Amazingflyingpoo are back with another great episode in Pocket Moon Podcast! This episode features special guest a.k.a. Frogmorton as the dessert of the show, as well as the usual awesome discussion material.
One hot topic on this show - the removal of the boo and disabling comments. Taffey and AFP did an incredible job of covering both sides of the discussion, and if you've still got an opinion on this topic, you may enjoy listening to this. Also, it might be interesting to find out why Taffey owes Syroc his first born child.
The forum soup discussion here is, in my opinion, the absolute best conversation about great talking points around the different sites. However, the most important point is probably the discussion on the Weekly Planetarium, highlighting specifically Sackfist's article. There are other great topics in this episode, but you'll have to look them up for yourself!
Tyler is a discussion-oriented (and very opinionated) member, and this episode features some excellent discussion topics with him, including a great discussion of the Survivor challenge. If you enjoy catching up on PSN and LBP news, as well as hearing some interesting conversation points and some hilarious laughs, this episode is a must-listen. Make sure to head over there right now and get ahold of this great episode!

--2's LBP Comic UpdateLaser is back with the weekly update! As we all know, last week's update ended with a cliffhanger, as it was the finishing of the chapter. Not only did next chapter begin, but it also brought us some updates! Laser decided to change art style of the comic, so the comics now look even more awesome! Also, The LBP Comic Character Contest winner is to be announced next week! You can still enter the competition if you want to, just post your entry in the topic. This week's extra art also brought us a new character! "Reizel Dyrell" will be featured later in this chapter.
Now make sure to check the thread out! This week's LBP Comic Update!
--2Sack dan's SackartAnother great artist has been discovered! Sack dan posted the a new topic showing off his new pictures, made for practicing at school. All the pictures so far are LBP related, and Sack Dan keeps updating the post to share even more amazing pictures with us! Make sure to check the drawings out! They are awesomely made and really beautiful. Sack Dan's Sackart.
--2codibear8383's new drawingsCodi has been featured in the newsletter many times, but she still amazes us with her art! She enjoyed the cake from last time, and she definitely deserves another as she continues to make these wonderful drawings! Make sure to check out her deviantart page, and the topic where she views her wonderful new drawings of Jasmine and her pet tiger, Rajah from the Disney movie Aladdin and Aurora from Sleeping Beauty! Check out Codibear's drawings!

LBPCentral back up!
LittleBigPlanetCentral is now back up with it's new upgrade. The site was down for a short period, but it is back now, better than ever. Why not head over and check out the new look.
Here's the link to their site!
New Look for LittleBigLand
LittleBigLand definitely has a colorful forum skin. However, some of the administrators over at LittleBigLand have decided to change up the look a little. Thus, a new skin was introduced for the site! The new skin is intended to be less busy than the last one, and the LBL team has definitely made another great site background.
Want to know more about this? Head over and read this post and make sure you check out LBL to see what the new skin looks like!

---3When Doppelgängers Meat... The cooked-outs of previous weeks continue on in the doppelgängers Horde's village...and, somewhat ironically, another doppelgänger has emerged from amidst the feasting and revelry: the Porterhouse-Sack, 's rare and meaty double.
the Porterhouse-Sack
Doppelgängers may like meat (some consider themselves as omnivores), but they also protect their own. Apple cider be darned, friends don't let friends eat friends, after all~

We here at the WP will keep you posted on further details of ongoing cook-outs & feasts, duels, and other potential shenanigans.

---3Artsy Fartsiness from Around the Interwebz Our littleBigPlanet is, as we know, a powerful (and immensely fun!) creative medium in and of itself. So it's no surprise that the game would inspire fan-art in a variety of forms. Each week in this section of the Weekly Planetarium, we will explore the many ways that create-crazy sackGirls and sackBoys around the globe show their love for the game, using expressive tools and methods both inside & outside the Popit-Menu box!

Reginald P. Sackerton - from http://durhobbies.bl...-sackerton.html ~
It's this reporter's best guess that this statuette was sculpted with Sculpey, painted with acrylic, and created with love.
(Oops. My mistake. The blog details that the sculpting material use was Aves Apoxie Sculpt.)
The sculptor said this: "Here's my SackBoy, Reginald P. Sackerton. I love this pose, so I used it for my sculpt."

Kudos to DurMan on the superbly sculpted & painted Sackerton!

(Sack) Luigi amigurumi* - from http://allaboutami.t...835560808/luigi~
Luigi, the ultimate second-banana of video game land, gets sack-ified! One simply can't have too many crocheted Sackboys. While the inclusion of Luigi's big round nose does slightly detract from the "Sackboy-ness" if the figure, this is nevertheless a finely crafted Sackdoll. It would be even moar awesome to see this guy sporting a flaming fist (à la the Super Smash Bros. series), or perhaps a vacuum cleaner...
Visit All About Ami for a detailed blog about the crochet creation process of this Sackplumber!
Kudos to Stephanie for the superbly-crafted scaredy-sack. :3

Survivor Season 9
This week in survivor was just as crazy as always. After Rayaman receded his position to let IM-Boss-17 back into the mix, NAVI went on to pull out a close win against RDA in Challenge 5 (which was a head-to-head competition). This resulted in member FootlessYeti being voted out.
Also announced was that some of the challenges have been opened up for the public, so those of you who have come to look forward to this, you're in luck. Check out the post about this here.
Challenge 6 was posted following the end of Challenge 5. In challenge 6, contestants were allowed to play a level as many times as they liked. The level consisted of a spinning wheel with many traps that the contestants had to try to survive running around in. The challenge was set to end on Saturday, May 5. This resulted in team NAVI winning, and member acdramon being voted out from team RDA.
Challenge 7 was posted soon afterwards. In challenge 7, members went head-to-head to try to shoot baskets first. There was one basketball. To make things more interesting, there were creatinators that shot electrified balls. These could be used to send the opponent to the "penalty box" for a temporary amount of time. After this challenge was over, team NAVI won, and member TheGeckoFreak being voted off of team RDA.
On Tuesday May 8, the two teams had a big meetup in Playstation Home. While there, it was announced that the two teams were MERGING! A huge game changer, and the two teams were thrust into one unified team - Eywa.
Challenge 8 was announced, and it consisted of contestants chasing after sackbots and throwing them into tubes on the wall to get points. Different tubes counted for different points. The challenge was set to end Thursday May 10. Member iiavalanchei won immunity for the round, and member mcjoshua was voted out.
Challenge 9 was announced. This consisted of a series of log-rolling challenges. Stay tuned to the thread for more updates on progress in this competition!
Planetarium People and Picture of the Week
Some discussion has been going on behind the scenes for Planetarium People and the Picture of the Week. Due to lessened involvement in these two contests, the leaders of these features are discussing possible ways to increase involvement or to phase out these features entirely. The past few weeks, members have not posted many pictures or questions for nominees. Expect some discussion in the next few days regarding the future of both of these features.
Until then, the interview for member Sakura is still open to submit questions to her. Make sure to head over there and submit questions as soon as possible.
